THE COMING OF DARKNESS -THE EAGLE SERIES (2013 -2014)

Air Drones searching and circling the sky, is it an Eagle a bird of prey attacking or is it a Dove a symbol of peace….. 

After travelling to Cambodia in 1999, ink silhouette drawings reflecting the sculpture relief from the walls of Angkor leaps out from the paintings against a vivid sea of colour.  The ‘The Coming of Darkness’ first painting series started in 2003, followed by the 'Yellow series'(2005), ‘The Barbarian’(2006), the 'Red series' (2009-2011) and ending with the ‘Eagle series’ (2013 -2014).  Utilizing the ancient imagery to document, explore and narrate a colourful, layered, whimsical yet ‘dark’ illustration of warfare.
